Dr. Nolan Clausen, DC
Dr. Nolan Clausen earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic and graduated with honors from Cleveland University-Kansas City in 2019. While at Cleveland, Nolan served as president of Sports Council for two years and was involved in the Motion Palpation and Christian Chiropractic clubs. He spent many weekends traveling throughout the US to attend over 600 hours of continuing education courses while he was a student, and he is excited to bring these clinical skills and tools to provide the best care for his patients.
Nolan is from Ord, a small community in central Nebraska. He graduated from Ord High School and then attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. At NWU, he played football for four years and basketball for three, and during collegiate athletics he had many injuries. One sports injury in particular, a herniated lumbar disc, brought him to chiropractic. He learned that through chiropractic with functional rehab and strengthening, he was able to get back on the field and improve his performance.
Nolan married his wife, Darrien, in April 2018 in the Dominican Republic. In 2020, they welcomed their first “human” child into the world — Theo Jane Clausen. Their other two children, Salvy a labradoodle and Ollie a miniature schnauzer are the best big brothers. Nolan and Darrien love staying active, especially through playing sand volleyball, taking their “kids” to the dog park, and hiking. They both look forward to getting involved in the Elkhorn community.

Jakob Harris, Head Strength Trainer
He ran track & field in college as a hurdler and dealt with several injuries that sidelined him from the things he loves. He quickly became obsessed with optimizing his health and fitness, and now has a passion for helping others progress in their own journey. His background in Nutrition Coaching and strength training helps him bridge the gap between feeling your best and performing your best.
Outside of the gym, he loves watching sports, hanging out with friends and family, and traveling (highly suggests impulse trips to Europe!). He and his fiancée, Maggie, live in Gretna with their two cats and have a wedding planned next year, so they’ll have their hands full over the next several months!
Jake is beyond excited to join the team at Midwest Movement and can’t wait to help the people in the community move better, feel stronger, and crush their goals!
Dave Backhaus, Strength Trainer
Dave brings a strong background in both education and fitness, giving him a unique ability to coach, motivate, and connect with clients of all ages and experience levels. His energy is contagious, and he’s passionate about helping every client get the most out of each workout.
If you’ve met Dave, you already know he’s fun, upbeat, and always singing along to the music! Many say they’ve never seen him in a bad mood, and so far we agree!
He also loves blending fitness and music to create workouts that are powerful, motivating, and genuinely enjoyable.
Outside of the clinic, Dave stays busy performing, writing, and recording music, bringing the same passion to the stage that he brings to the training floor.
Dave will be coaching on Tuesdays and Thursday’s, so be sure welcome him when you see him!
Kristi Sexton, Strength Trainer
Kristi will be stepping in as a Strength Trainer, coaching classes and helping elevate the experience for everyone who walks through our doors.
She’s a lifelong fitness enthusiast with a strong background in strength training. While she’s explored just about every style of workout, she always comes back to the basics of functional strength.
After being sidelined by multiple foot surgeries, Kristi developed a deep appreciation for smart, intentional training. She focuses on maximizing results without compromising long term health.
If you’ve taken a class with her, you already know the energy she brings. She shows up, supports others, and makes the people around her better. Bringing her onto the team was an easy decision.
Outside the gym, she stays busy with her husband Dennis, their four kids, and plenty of DIY home projects (finishing them is optional ).
We’re pumped to have her on board. If you haven’t met her yet in class, make sure you introduce yourself soon!
